About Hamish John Appleby
Hamish John Appleby is a Melbourne-based professional photographer with more than 25 years’ experience across corporate, government, editorial, NGO, architecture, events, portrait and documentary photography. His work has taken him across Australia and internationally and has appeared in publications, annual reports, campaigns, websites and communications for organisations of all sizes.
His approach combines strong technical craft with a documentary sensibility — creating natural, distinctive images that communicate something genuine about people, places and organisations. He works collaboratively and unobtrusively, with particular attention to composition, light, context and the human element of an image.
Hamish holds a Master of Media Arts and has an extensive background in visual arts and photography. His international experience includes work for government, humanitarian and development organisations as well as commercial, editorial and institutional clients.
Based in Melbourne, Hamish is available for assignments throughout Australia and internationally.
